Fire Safety Inspection Reports

The annual Public School Fire Safety Reports, which include the results of yearly inspections for fire hazards which might endanger the lives of students, teachers, employees, has been completed for the Dover Union Free School District.  The reports are available upon request in the Facilities Office, Dover Middle/High School, 2368 Route 22, Dover Plains, NY 12522.

Lead Testing

The Dover Union Free School District is committed to protecting the health and welfare of the students you entrust to our care everyday along with that of our staff and community members.

Revisions to Public Health Law (PHL) §1110, which governs school potable water testing and standards, went into effect December 22, 2022. The key revisions to the law which will require changes to Subpart 67-4 include:

The revised action level of lead in drinking water is 5 parts per billion (ppb), reduced from 15 ppb.

School buildings deemed “lead-free” are no longer exempt from testing requirements.

Should it be necessary to provide water to school occupants following an outlet being taken out of service due to an action level exceedance, it must be provided free of charge.

Copies of lead sampling results including laboratory reports and any lead remediation plans must be made available to the public and posted on the school’s website.

Compliance testing will occur on a triennial (every 3 years) schedule.

School districts are required to report the results of all water testing to the state Department of Health, the state Education Department and the local health department, and to post the results—along with remediation plans. Our results are listed in the link to the right.

The district identified water sources that needed to be tested according to the new law, which included drinking fountains, sinks, and ice machines. In phase one, (the initial testing), the district sampled all locations in accordance to the new law. The results of that testing are listed by the building to the right under downloads.
